An abdominal bulge may be due to a weakness or separation in the abdominal muscles due to ageing or post-pregnancy. This may or may not be accompanied by a hernia with abdominal contents such as intestine or intrabdominal fat. This can be corrected by reducing the intrabdominal contents (if any) and a repair of the abdominal muscles to close the separation. This is done through a pantyline incision in the lower abdomen.
